Misha del Val grew up in Bilbao in Basque Country, Spain. He graduated in Fine Arts from Basque Country University in 2003. Del Val lived and worked in Sydney, Australia, from 2003 to 2013. In Sydney he forged a life-long commitment to painting. In 2005 he travelled to Pirlangimpi community in the Tiwi Islands (NT) to volunteer at Munupi Arts Centre. He undertook a Master of Arts at College of Fine Arts in Sydney in 2008-2009 majoring in printmaking, time in which he became a member of the Dirty Hands Printmakers Collective. He co-founded alongside artist Aaron Matheson (nowadays Aryadharma) the Drawing in the City at Night courses (2008-2013) held in cafes, bars and streets of central Sydney. During his time In Sydney, del Val exhibited his work individually (Space3, Gallery Forty-Four, Primrose Centre, Glen Street Theatre Gallery, Maunsell-WIckes) and collectively (S.H.Ervin Gallery, Art Sydney fair, Kudos Gallery, Gallery Red). In March 2013 del Val relocated in Berlin and a year later he settled permanently in Sirkka, Finnish Lapland, with his partner artist Raisa Raekallio.
Misha del Val currently works as an artist, holding an artistic collaboration with Raisa Raekallio. He occasionally curates exhibitions and writes on art events. In addition to this, del Val offers art and meditation workshops and Spanish language courses for the community.
